What we collect when you get in touch, why we hold it, and how to have it removed. Short version: we only keep what you send us, we never sell it, and we delete it when it stops being useful.
Who this covers
This policy covers Inksailor Studio ("Inksailor", "we", "us") and the pages on this website. We decide why and how the information described here is used, which makes us the controller of it.
Questions, corrections or deletion requests go to hello@inksailor.io and reach a person, not a queue.
What we collect
Only two things, and you provide both of them:
- Enquiry details — the name, email address and message you send through the contact form or by email, along with anything else you choose to include, such as a company name or a budget range.
- Correspondence — the emails, documents and call notes that build up while we are talking about a project or running one.
Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — for security and reliability. We do not use those logs to build a profile of you.
When you send the contact form we also record the IP address it came from and the browser string it reported, so we can stop the form being abused. That is stored with the enquiry and deleted with it.
We run no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts on this site, so there is no behavioural data to collect in the first place.
Why we hold it
To answer you, to quote for work, and to run a project once it starts. Where we are required to keep records — invoices and contracts, typically — we keep them for as long as the law says and no longer.
We do not use your details for unrelated marketing, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you asked us a question.
Who else sees it
The people on the project, and the service providers we rely on to operate: email, hosting, file storage and the tools we use to deliver the work. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We will disclose it only where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
Where it is held
An enquiry sent through the contact form is written to a file on the server that hosts this site — outside the public folder, so it cannot be read over the web — and emailed to us at the same time. Both copies are covered by the retention period below.
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where that happens we rely on providers who commit to recognised safeguards for international transfers.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not turn into work are deleted within twelve months. Project records are kept for the life of the engagement and then for as long as tax and contract law requires.
You can ask us to delete anything sooner, and unless we are legally required to keep it, we will.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of what we hold about you
- have it corrected if it is wrong
- have it deleted
- object to or restrict how we use it
- receive it in a portable format
- complain to your local data protection authority
Email hello@inksailor.io and we will action it. We do not charge for this, and we will reply within thirty days.
Children
This site is aimed at businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under sixteen.
Changes
We update this page when the way we work changes — most likely when the contact form gains a backend, or if we ever add analytics. The date at the top of the page tells you when it last changed.
Something on this page unclear, or something you want removed? hello@inksailor.io — a person reads it.
